Before Anne-Sophie Lapix, the RN had already dismissed a journalist from the 2017 debate

PRESIDENTIAL – “Marine Le Pen does not want Anne-Sophie Lapix to moderate the debate”, announced the interim president of the National Rally Jordan Bardella from this Monday, April 11, the day after the first round of the presidential election. This is not the first time that the far-right party has set its conditions on the animation of the debate between the two rounds.

In 2017, the presenter of the JT of TF1 Anne-Claire Coudray had paid the price for the hostility of the RN, still called National Front. Originally, TF1 and France 2 had appointed the duo Gilles Bouleau-David Pujadas to animate the confrontation of ideas between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen.

But in order to have a joint animation, the candidate LREM had claimed that a woman is also at the animation of the debate. It was therefore Anne-Claire Coudray who had been approached to replace Gilles Bouleau, until the FN vetoed it.

“All but not her”

“No way! Everything but not her”, was thus indignant Florian Philippot, then vice-president of the FN, who considered that his party suffered from unequal treatment of the media compared to the others. The two channels and the CSA had then complied with this requirement to the great astonishment of a person present at the meeting between TF1, M6, the CSA and the campaign teams of the two candidates. “They absolutely did not discuss, reported this witness quoted by Pure Media. It was surprising.” It was finally Nathalie Saint-Cricq and Christophe Jakubyszyn who were responsible for leading the debate in 2017.

Interviewed on Franceinfo in March 2017, Marine Le Pen accused Anne-Claire Coudray of “eating eyes” Emmanuel Macron “by telling him ‘what are you good at economics'”, in reference to the latter’s passage on TF1 . A reflection which Jean-Michel Aphatie had judged that it could be interpreted as “sexism” towards the journalist.

LDS angry

Also deemed hostile to the far-right candidate, Anne-Sophie Lapix was thus challenged for the 2022 debate which will once again pit Emmanuel Macron against Marine Le Pen on Wednesday April 20. Even if the critics are more discreet, the LREM candidate, too, would hardly appreciate the work of the presenter of the JT of France 2, often described as pugnacious by viewers and his peers, reports Telerama. “Even Emmanuel Macron does not want Anne-Sophie Lapix to present the debate,” said Jordan Bardella.

What particularly annoy the society of journalists of France 2 which split a tweet this Wednesday, condemning “all the pressure exerted by the candidates undermining the freedom of the press”. “It is not up to politicians to choose the journalists who question them,” insists the SDJ.

For the animation of the debate between the two rounds of the presidential election of 2022, if TF1 and France 2 have not yet formalized names, the tandem Léa Salamé and Gilles Bouleau is approached.
