Xiaomi TV P1E 55

The Xiaomi P1E is the most affordable TV from the Chinese manufacturer. In addition to its contained price, it has a few arguments such as Android TV, a remote control with integrated microphone for voice searches and an Ultra HD VA panel with very good native contrast. Indeed, with white calibrated at 151 cd/m² on our test chart, black drops to just over 0.023 cd/m², which results in a record contrast ratio of 6550:1, one of the best values ever recorded in the laboratory on an LCD television. We had already noted very good contrasts of more than 5000:1, as on the Hisense H55U7A for example, but never a ratio greater than 6000:1. Of course, LCD televisions equipped with a Full-Led or Mini-Led backlighting system can do better. The Samsung QE65QN95A achieves a contrast of 7810:1, but this is mainly due to the extinction of the LEDs located behind the black part of the screen. This is the first time that we have noted such a high value on a TV with a non-dynamic backlight system.
This excellent contrast results in very deep blacks, even in a dark room. There is almost no risk of ending up with greyish blacks. Of course, Oled technology with its infinite contrast is still a cut above, especially in terms of brightness compared to this entry-level television. This is what we will see in the full test which will be published on Monday.
