The Kia EV6 GT will push the power levels even further. But she won’t just be a queen of the clock.
The Kia EV6, European Car of the Year, opens a new chapter in Kia’s electric history. A gifted long-haul traveler, she will also combine her comfort with dynamism with the Kia EV6 GT, an overpowered version that says more today.
And it is in particular Albert Bierman, former head of the Korean group’s Research and Development department, who speaks at the microphone ofCoach. According to him, the EV6 GT will not only be a queen of the clock, but a real GT: “We launched the GT badge with the Stinger, and the GT is still a premium model. It’s not a car for the circuit, that’s a different story. It is designed for grand touring and offers good performance while being fun to drive”.
The Kia EV6 GT was not to see the light of day initially
Referring to the range of possibilities offered by the e-GMP platform, the former developer, now a consultant, indicates that the GT will notably have an e-LSD electronic differential and a revised adaptive suspension. So much equipment necessary to allow its 585 hp to express themselves fully.
But more than the technical sheet, it is ultimately the genesis of this version that fascinates the most. Because, as the spokesperson for the brand points out, the Kia EV6 GT was not to see the light of day initially and was not planned in any product plan. It is only the result of a team of engineers who decided to develop a GT as soon as the e-GMP platforms demonstrated the potential for technical improvements.
